An Amur Tiger painting, these big cats are so incredibly majestic it's hard not to be in awe of them. Amur tigers were once found throughout large parts of Russia, China and Korea. Hunting had driven the Amur tiger to the brink of extinction by the 1940's, when there were approximately 40 individuals remaining in the wild.
By the 1980s, the Amur tiger population had increased to around 500, and today with continued conservation and antipoaching efforts by many organisations the population stable at around 540 individuals.
This tiger painting of a big beautiful Amur tiger was a joy to paint, capturing her expression as she starts to hunt, her power and grace is obvious.
