This original panoramic painting of Aberporth offers the striking perspective looking back across the sandy beach from the north-east. By utilising a wide-angled format, the composition captures the full expanse of the beach and the natural curve of the bay, allowing the far headland to be included in its entirety.
Aberporth was one of the main centres of the herring fishing industry in Wales. Drifting and netting were both employed and at one time and at least 20 full time herring smacks went to sea out of Aberporth regularly.
